Why choose to study in the UK?
UK qualifications are among the most respected across the world, and will provide you with a great platform to build your career. UK Universities and Colleges often have high quality standards, with constant control measures to make sure that these are met. In fact, the UK is being used as benchmark for many other countries who are trying to reform their education systems.
The UK is also highly recognized for its creativeness and early adoption of dynamic culture and fashion changes. It is for reasons such as these that despite the UK's size relative to other world powers, means that the UK is rapidly becoming one of the top destinations to study around the world.

Now, let's look into the key facts behind what is making the UK a top choice for study:
Growing Destination
Up until now, people have become accustomed to perhaps study in USA, due to it's super power image, and its offering of being able to 'Live the American Dream. It is only recently that it has been realised that perhaps the appeal isn't so great, and that UK's quality and range of qualifications, makes it an equally strong contender.
Global Recognition
It doesn't matter what country or organisation you walk in to, the recognition of a UK degree is among the highest in the world. This is further recognised in the number of Placement Year and Graduate jobs that are being offered across the globe, to individuals with UK qualifications.
Lower Education Costs
Another fact that is helping the growth for international students studying in the UK, is that it is much cheaper to study in the UK, as opposed to the likes of the USA. The USA can often charge $25,000 (USD) a year or more, which even on today's good exchange rate, still equates to around £13,000+ a year. Whereas the UK typically costs in the region of £7,000 to £8,000 a year.
Also, another thing worth recognising, is that the costs of studying in the UK are further reduced, as a typical UK degree lasts 3 years instead of the 4 to 5 years that many others countries offer.
Working & Earning Money
As you may expect, unlike many other countries, the UK has very different regulations on immigration and also working visa's. Typically, an international student is entitled to work up to 20 hours a week in order to help fund there education. You also be able to work more than 20 hours during holiday periods. You are naturally entitled to the UK minimum wage or above. UK minimum wage rates 'per hour' are as follow (as of Oct 2006):
- 16 to 17 year olds £3.30 per hour
- 18 to 21 year olds £4.45 per hour
- 22 year olds and above £5.35 per hour
