Learning and teaching
The consistently high quality of our learning and teaching has been recognised by positive evaluations from the Quality Assurance Agency and OFSTED. In 2005 and 2006 Brighton academics were awarded National Teaching Fellowships. We offer a range of subjects as diverse as: automotive engine design, law with accountancy, midwifery, three-dimensional design, sport, tourism, architecture, pharmacy, and countryside management.
The university is proud to be involved in establishing three of the national Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs). These have been awarded in recognition of excellent teaching practice. They involve partnerships with the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal College of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Sussex University.

A professional focus
Experts from industry and the professions contribute to teaching and help keep our courses relevant by working with us on their development. Ninety–four per cent of students have opportunities to take part in work-based or related learning.
Students use learning environments like our trading room for real-time share dealing, a news room, a culinary arts studio and a clinical skills laboratory. Our student volunteer scheme and the beepurple entrepreneurial network offer further opportunities for personal development. Research
We take particular pride in applied research – work that improves people’s lives and environment. Research in subjects including biomedical sciences, art and design and european studies is recognised as world class. Find out about research.
Support and facilities
Over the past decade we have invested £100 million in facilities, with a further £25 million committed to work on our Falmer campus. Brighton is one of a handful of universities to achieve the Matrix Award in recognition of the quality of its student advice and guidance services. Great locations
The university has four campuses in two great locations. Brighton and Eastbourne offer plenty to do all year round. You'll find clubs, live music, shops, restaurants and bars, galleries and museums. Accommodation
We work to ensure that all our students have access to well-priced, good quality accommodation. There are 1900 places available in university halls, costing between £60- £90 per week. Scholarships and bursaries
Our scholarships recognise the academic, sporting and other achievements of students. Bursaries, worth between £500 and £1000 a year, are automatically awarded to eligible students on the basis of family income. Find out about money.

In partnership
The Brighton and Sussex Medical School is jointly run by the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex. It is one of the most popular medical schools in the country.
We developed and manage University Centre Hastings which brings courses from six universities to Hastings and the surrounding area.

Continuing support
The Brighton Graduate Association (BGA) offers a life-long link to the university. This includes continued access to one-to-one careers guidance and mentoring, entrepreneurial business advice, use of the university library and sports facilities and discounts on postgraduate study. Brighton is a community of over 20,000 students and 2000 staff. Almost 7000 students are part-time, 2500 are from outside the UK and 1000 are based at partner colleges.
